MS Dynamics NAV Azure -- a Boon for SMBs

Every new release of Dynamics NAV Azure is a happy thing for the SMB (small-to-medium size business) customers out there. That's because of better and better integration between Microsoft Dynamics and the Azure cloud and its fine array of practical, adaptable, and money-saving offerings.

An October 2015 article in eweek.com by Pedro Hernandez gives us the scoop on Dynamics NAV Azure 2016: "In keeping with the Microsoft's post-PC, "cloud-first" product strategy, the latest version of Dynamics NAV features deeper ties to the Redmond, Wash., software giant's Azure-backed cloud services slate. "Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 offers significant new capabilities in mobility, business insight, and cloud services, as well as deeper interoperability with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Office 365," said Microsoft Corporate Vice President Wayne Morris in an Oct. 5 announcement." And in a very exciting new development, Morris states in the same article that there is now an "option to deploy Microsoft Dynamics NAV on Microsoft Azure SQL Database, Microsoft's industry-leading database-as-a-service in the cloud offering," meaning that some customers may be able to skip on-premises installations altogether! Dynamics 365 implentation and training are top on the list.

At any rate, for a great number of SMB customers the lowering of IT support costs in one fashion or another, whether it means requiring less IT staff on board and/or fewer computers to license, power, and otherwise maintain, plus the advantages of cloud-based services like anywhere, anytime access on a plethora of mobile devices, makes for an overwhelmingly superior choice.

Here's one great example from an article dated March 2016 on worldfishing.net: "WiseFish is a system based on Microsoft’s Dynamics NAV business suite, and is described by its developer, Wise, as perfect for practically every aspect of running a business from accounts to production, sales, purchasing and quotations." "We easily link WiseFish to other systems, peripherals and production equipment," says the company’s sales and marketing manager, Jón Heidar Pálsson. Also mentioned is the reduction in IT support demand plus the flexibility and scalability of this excellently tailored system. In summary, “The upgrade to the newest versions of NAV and WiseFish was a success and provides a platform to keep pace with our expanding business,” said Páll Snorrason, CEO of Icelandic fishing and processing company, Eskja.

Finally for those customers who are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM, "Dynamics NAV 2016 also features native integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, allowing organizations to link their customer service and sales operations," according to Pedro Hernandez from the eweek.com article cited above.
