Quickbooks vs Microsoft Dynamics

Many businesses who are wrestling with growth issues still rely on isolated applications to managing their accounting functions, such as Intuit’s QuickBooks. To some owners, this leads to the question of deciding on Quickbooks vs Microsoft Dynamics.

The primary focus of Intuit's suite is to handle company payroll, account receivables and payables; in addition, the software can track certain levels of the sales pipeline with some marketing capabilities through its built-in productivity tools, as well as some other operational monitoring.

But what is lacking in this software is its inability to integrate its data throughout many more useful modules, such as those found in Microsoft Dynamics (GP). This means that the payroll information is resigned to just that: entries and reports and payroll generation, for the most part. Of course, employees are always in a constant stage of flux, and the dynamics of configuring employee benefits, and other components left largely to Human Resources are woefully lacking in QuickBooks (QB).

This means QB users are limited to the software’s offerings without the capability to bring into the open windows employee profiles, for example.

QB limited to ‘one date’ entries.

As is often the case, accounting software can provide transactions assigned to just more than a single date: a posting and document date. QB’s offering is one-dimensional in this regard by allowing transactions per one date only---Microsoft Dynamics allows two dates per entry.

Database management use: QB vs Dynamics…

Businesses owners, and IT decision makers cringe at the word ‘proprietary.’ And that’s exactly what QB offers its users. Moreover, it’s based on a “locked down version of Sybase.

The backbone of Microsoft Dynamics is built around Microsoft SQL.

Large datasets…

It’s well known that Quickbooks Enterprise is limited to the size of its database as well as the number of master records it can handle. Millions of files and hundreds of thousands of entries have been tested (processed) successfully simultaneously via multiple users.
